MHI are a registered charity promoting positive mental health, wellbeing & recovery. They work to support people with lived experience of mental health challenges in their recovery and bring practical expression to national policy objectives.

Peer Advocacy in Mental Health is a voluntary organistion led by people with personal experience of mental health challenges. They provide peer advocacy, support and information for those with mental health difficulties. They work to Through their peer support, they support people to grow in confidence, have their voice heard, and claim their rights.

See Change is Ireland’s organisation dedicated to ending mental health stigma. Their work is informed by people with lived experiences of mental health difficulties, who are best placed to give insight into mental health stigma and discrimination.  Their annual Green Ribbon Campaign aims to spread awareness about all mental health difficulties to help end mental health stigma and discrimination.

Suicide or Survive (SOS) is a nationwide charity focussed on breaking down the stigma around mental health. SOS deliver innovative mental health and wellness progrmames countrywide and online.  Programmes are available for people who have attempted suicide (Eden Programme), for people supporting others who are struggling (Supporters Programme), self-management / wellness (WRAP Programme, Wellness Workshop and Workplace Wellness).

Phone-in and Zoom peer groups provide support for anxiety, mild to moderate depression, bipolar disorder or other related mood conditions. Support & self-care groups take place daily.

Longstanding & trusted, Samaritans volunteers provide confidential support, befriending and listening to those in personal crisis, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  21 branches across Ireland.  Also provide a Self-Help App. to keep track of feelings, get coping recommendations & to stay safe in a crisis. 

Free 24 Hour Support service with therapeutic approach for people in suicidal distress, who engage in self-harm, are particularly low or who are bereaved by suicide. See website for branches.

Embrace FARM is a registered charity working for farm families affected by sudden loss or trauma. They provide peer to peer support groups, grief support, an annual remembrance service, and residential bereavement weekends. It was founded by the Rohan family in the aftermath of their own personal tragedy. Embrace FARM also advocates for those affected by farm accidents. 


Futures in Mind provides a range of suicide prevention services both nationally and in their local community of Gorey. Services include counselling, child & adolescent services, bereavement support and community outreach programmes.  Their counselling service offers one to one, group and family counselling & therapy sessions. Futures in Mind was formerly Talk to Tom. 

Grow Mental Health

Helping people recover from mental health problems.  At weekly, group support meetings nationwide, embers support each other through their own experiences. Helpline: 1890 474 474 

The national centre for youth mental health, Jigsaw has branches in Dublin and across Ireland.  Services include access to free therapy and expert mental health support, both online and in person, for children and young adults aged 12-25 years.  Jigsaw.ie is a great resource of information & eLearning including support articles, videos and online courses for young people, parents/guardians and those working with young people.  Talk to a Jigsaw clinician online through the Jigsaw Live Chat, Ask Jigsaw and Group Chats.

MyMind

Providing fast and easy access to counselling and psychotherapyface to face and online. MyMind work to deliver affordable counselling with a sliding pay scale according to client. Also, for those directly affected by Covid-19, MyMind are now also delivering FREE online counselling appointments all over Ireland. For more information CLICK HERE .  

If you have private health insurance, your service provider may provide mental health supports and even free counselling services, so do check your policy.  
Shine

SHINE works with individuals & family members of those with mental health difficulties.  They aim to raise awareness and provide information, education, counselling & support groups. Services include groups for people with lived experience of a mental health difficulty, family & supporters groups, recovery training and education groups. St Patrick's Mental Health Services

St Patrick’s Hospital provides a specialist Telephone & Email service staffed by experienced mental health nurses. The service is for the general public, existing service users and health care professionals and provides support for service users, early intervention or general queries. For callers own mental health or if concerned for another. Young adult service also available.

Teenline is a free 24-hour active listening service for young people up and including 18 years of age in Ireland. Provided by the ISPCC, the service is confidential, non-directive and non-judgemental. Young people can contact the service at any time, to talk about any issue on their mind.

Turn2me

Online mental health community providing support groups, peer support and one to one online counselling.  Turn2me provide 6 free counselling sessions to anyone over 18 years living in Ireland. Website is a good resource of information on mental health issues.
