Bereavement by Suicide

HUGG

HUGG is the national suicide bereavement charity. Services include information & resources on grief after a suicide, telephone support, events & webinars, vital research & advocacy work and suicide bereavement support groups. HUGG support groups are led by trained volunteers with a lived experience of suicide loss and are available in-person or online, so the service is accessible wherever you are in the country.  HUGG's website is a useful resource on grief management and for practical information in the aftermath of a suicide. Visit the HUGG website to learn more. Based in Limerick, the Children's Grief Centre provides a listening support service for participants aged 4-18 years old to help them come to terms with their grief.  Parents / Guardians can call to refer their child and request an appointment. NB They do not provide services for children or young people who have lost a loved one to suicide. 

The CRY charity was founded in 2002 by parents who had experienced the effects of Sudden Cardiac Death and unexplained death within their families. CRY provides a range of Family Support services to loved ones and families throughout Ireland (32 counties). Provides support to loved ones who have been bereaved and also those who live with an inherited cardiac condition. CRY's team of volunteers listen in confidence and provide emotional support and information where necessary.

Based in Gorey with a Branch in Arklow, Futures in Mind provides a range of suicide prevention services both locally and nationally for all ages including children & adolescents. Services include counselling, child & adolescent services, bereavement support and community outreach programmes including training.  Also provide group sessions such as depression and bereavement support groups.

Irish Hospice Foundation provide a range of support services and resources for people who have experienced the death of a loved one.  Their range of supports includes bereavement support helpline, information evenings, information resources for bereaved children and young people and supports for bereaved parents. The website has recommended reading, signposts to supports, videos and events, both upcoming and recordings of past. IHF is a fabulous resource whatever the nature of your gried. 

Jacinta's Smile is a sibling bereavement organisation founded by siblings who had lost their two brothers and a sister to acknowledge sibling loss and the struggles that accompany it. The charity provides various supports for bereaved siblings.  Services include subsidised counselling & psychotherapy, online creative events & workshops, adventure days and information on grief and its effects.  The charity works in association with Vita House, Counselling & Psychotherapy. 

MyMind

Providing fast and easy access to counselling and psychotherapyface to face and online. MyMind work to deliver affordable counselling with a sliding pay scale according to client. BeLonG To provides support and information for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Trans (LGBTI+) young people in Ireland through a number of support services.   If you are LGBTI+ and have questions, worries, or just need to have a chat in a safe space, BeLonG To can provide you with information, support, and a listening ear.  BeLonG To support youth groups around the country where you can be yourself, meet new people and seek help.Monday Chats:  Between 3-7pm: Free service for 14-23 year-olds. SHINE works with individuals & family members of those with mental health difficulties.  They aim to raise awareness and provide information, education, counselling & support groups. St Patrick's Mental Health Services

Domestic Violence

Mens Aid

Confidential helpline & support service for men experiencing domestic abuse and for their children.  Men's Aid provides counselling, legal clinic, court accompaniment, training and outreach clinics. Sign language interpreters are available on request.  

Rape Crisis Network Ireland

Wherever you are in Ireland, you can access 24 hour support in the aftermath of a rape or sexual assault.  RCNI provides a 24 Hour Helpline service for anyone in crisis or with concerns for themselves or another.  The website provides vital information & signposting to support services for survivors of sexual violence and those seeking information for others, with directions to local Rape Crisis Centres and other supporting services local to you.  Easy to navigate, this is a go-to site for anyone seeking urgent help and assistance.

Dublin Rape Centre

Dublin Rape Crisis Centre offers a free and confidential listening and support service for anyone who has been raped, sexually assaulted, sexually harassed or sexually abused. Services include a National 24-Hour Helpline available wherever you are in the country. The centre also provides one to one counselling, court accompaniment, outreach services, training, awareness-raising and lobbying.  Sign language interpreters are available if required and on request to counselling@rcc.ie.  Find your local Rape Crisis supports here. 

The Immigrant Council of Ireland provide community-based Navigators to provide confidential, one-to-one advice and information to migrant women who are victims of domestic violence. Eating Disorders 

Bodywhys

Bodywhys, Ireland's Eating Disorders Association, provides confidential help, support & information services for people with eating disorders and for their families & friends. Farming & Rural Stress

Embrace FARM is a registered charity working for farm families affected by sudden loss or trauma. Based in Gorey with a Branch in Arklow, Futures in Mind provides a range of suicide prevention services both locally and nationally for all ages including children & adolescents. Services include counselling, child & adolescent services, bereavement support and community outreach programmes including training.  Also provide group sessions such as depression and bereavement support groups.

Shine

SHINE works with individuals & family members of those with mental health difficulties.  They aim to raise awareness and provide information, education, counselling & support groups. Services include groups for people with lived experience of a mental health difficulty, family & supporters groups, recovery training and education groups. Teenline is a free 24-hour active listening service for young people up and including 18 years of age in Ireland. Provided by the ISPCC, the service is confidential, non-directive and non-judgemental. Young people can contact the service at any time, to talk about any issue on their mind.

Available 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the Switchboard provides support and resources to all areas of the LGBTQIA community and to their families, friends and allies. Services include confidential helpline,  married men's group and parents support service.  A Drop-In Service is available weekly for sexual health information & support.
